1. John Dunmore Lang (1799-1878)

John Dunmore Lang was a clergyman, writer, and influential figure in the early colonial history of Australia. Born in Scotland, Lang migrated to New South Wales in 1823. He played a significant role in the establishment of the Presbyterian Church in Australia and advocated for reforms in education and immigration. Lang was a prominent voice for the separation of the Church and State and was involved in various political and social movements of his time.

2. David Berry (1795-1889)

David Berry was a Scottish-born Australian pioneer and philanthropist. He migrated to New South Wales in 1822 and became a successful pastoralist along the Far South Coast. Berry acquired vast landholdings, including the historic Coolangatta Estate, and made substantial contributions to the development of the region. His philanthropic work included the establishment of the Berry Memorial School of Arts and donations towards the construction of the Berry Courthouse.

3. Eva Cox (1938-)

Eva Cox is a prominent Australian social commentator, women's rights advocate, and academic. While not originally from the Far South Coast, Cox has been associated with the region. She has dedicated her career to addressing social issues such as gender equality, social justice, and the welfare system. Cox has been recognized for her contributions with numerous awards, including the Medal of the Order of Australia.

4. Sarah Kanteena (1900-1942)

Sarah Kanteena, also known as "Queen Mata," was an Indigenous Yuin woman born near Bega on the Far South Coast of New South Wales. She was a respected elder and matriarch of the Yuin people. Kanteena fought for the rights of her community and worked to preserve Indigenous culture and heritage. With her strong leadership, she became a symbol of resilience and resistance during a time of immense challenges for Aboriginal people.

5. Merrick Watts (1973-)

Merrick Watts is an Australian comedian, radio and television presenter, and actor. Although not born in the Far South Coast, Watts spent part of his childhood in Merimbula. He gained popularity through his comedy performances and co-hosted a successful radio show, "Merrick & Rosso," which aired for several years. Watts has also appeared on various television programs, showcasing his comedic talent and engaging personality.
